Jackson Sales Internship

Summary: During the months of June and July of 2023, I completed a sales internship with a small financial firm named Jackson. They specialize in annuities and other retirement-related products, which can only be sold or consulted about by an individual with specific certifications/licenses. Rather than waste our time learning about Jackson’s products, our managers explained that we would be learning transferrable sales skills - such as presentations and public speaking. Five of these were competitions called “showcase showdowns,” in which we had to effectively argue our stance on various provided topics in front of audiences ranging from 5-50 individuals. I came in first place for three of these presentations, concerning the following topics:
- Is a hot dog a sandwich? (NO!)
- Is ketchup a jam? (YES)
- Is water wet? (NO)
